We are currently required to calculate the Sales Tax for over 9,000 different jurisdictions. It is a job so complex and overwhelming that we are not able to do it ourselves.
We use a company called TaxJar, one of the two nationwide companies that process Sales Tax. The second one is Avalara, and it does the same job as TaxJar. When you put the item in the shopping cart, we check with TaxJar with your address and they return the amount of Sales Tax we are required to charge you for your location. They keep in touch with current changes in rates, and current regulations.
